Week 5 Russell Athletic Bowl Projections

After week five, the media predictions have two different ACC teams plus Notre Dame. On the Big 12 side West Virginia and Oklahoma State were the two picks. Here are your week five projections for the 26th Russell Athletic Bowl.

Jerry Palm (CBSSports.com): Notre Dame vs. West Virginia

Jason Kirk (SBNation): North Carolina vs. West Virginia

Max Olson (ESPN Big 12 Blog): West Virginia

David Hale (ESPN ACC Blog): Florida State

Mark Schlabach (ESPN): Florida State vs. Oklahoma State

Brett McMurphy (ESPN): Notre Dame vs. West Virginia

Pete Fiutak (Campus Insiders): Florida State vs. West Virginia

College Sports Madness: Notre Dame vs. Oklahoma State

Bill Bender (Sporting News): Florida State vs. West Virginia

In this week’s bowl projections, we see a new team enter the projections. North Carolina, who replaced Florida State in Jason Kirk’s prediction, has made an appearance before but not since the game moved to Orlando. The Tar Heels played in the 1995 Carquest Bowl in Miami Garden, where they defeated Arkansas 20-10.

West Virginia has been in Orlando three times with the most recent being in a 2010 loss to a Russell Wilson-lead NC State team. Oklahoma State has never made an appearance in Orlando.

Three projections – Jerry Palm of CBSSports.com, Max Olson and David Hale of ESPN – stayed the same.
