2024 Pop-Tarts Bowl To Kick Off December 28 at 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC
Game to Feature ACC vs. Big 12 Matchup at Camping World Stadium in Orlando
ORLANDO, Fla. — Fresh off an award-winning 2023 debut, the Pop-Tarts Bowl will return to a weekend time slot in 2024, with the Crazy Good sequel premiering on Saturday, Dec. 28 at 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC. Florida Citrus Sports officials confirmed the details Thursday as part of ESPN’s 2024-25 football bowl schedule release.
The follow-up act to last December’s debut—a “viral sensation,” according to The New York Times—the Pop-Tarts Bowl will again feature top teams from the Atlantic Coast and Big 12 Conferences at Camping World Stadium.
In last season’s game, the first to feature Pop-Tarts as title sponsor, Kansas State became the 22nd different winner in the bowl’s storied history, with MVP Avery Johnson, head coach Chris Klieman and the Wildcats devouring the edible Pop-Tarts Bowl mascot, Frosted Strawberry, in memorable fashion during the postgame trophy ceremony.
The mascot and production at Camping World Stadium “stole the bowl season narrative,” according to the Washington Post, and in the months to follow, the Pop-Tarts Bowl would be recognized with a Bowl Season Bestie for Best in Game Presentation and a 2024 Sports Business Awards Brand Activation of the Year honor, and will be featured in EA Sports’ upcoming College Football 25 game.
Last season’s Pop-Tarts Bowl also received rave reviews among advertising and other industry groups, including a prestigious Grand Clio award—a top advertising industry honor awarded to just 30 activations globally.
Now in its 35th season—a run that includes nearly a quarter century in Orlando—the 2024 Pop-Tarts Bowl will be the seventh Saturday edition of the game, with previous weekend contests including Notre Dame-Iowa State (2019), Louisville-Miami (2013) and Florida State-Wisconsin (2008). The 2019 game was also the last Pop-Tarts Bowl to air on ABC.
Florida Citrus Sports’ second bowl game, the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl, features teams from the Southeastern and Big Ten Conferences and will be played on Tuesday, Dec. 31, at 3 p.m. ET, with coverage also on ABC.
Tickets to both the Pop-Tarts Bowl and the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl are available now exclusively through Florida Citrus Sports and will go on sale to the public after teams are selected on Sunday, Dec. 8.
