Week 3 Russell Athletic Bowl Projections

Though the regular season is still young, it’s never too early to see what members of the media are projecting for the 2015 Russell Athletic Bowl.

Jerry Palm (CBSSports.com): Notre Dame vs. West Virginia

Jason Kirk (SBNation): Florida State vs. West Virginia

Max Olson (ESPN Big 12 Blog): Oklahoma State

David Hale (ESPN ACC Blog): Florida State

Mark Schlabach (ESPN): Florida State vs. West Virginia

Brett McMurphy (ESPN): Georgia Tech vs. Oklahoma State

Pete Fiutak (Campus Insiders): Georgia Tech vs. West Virginia

College Sports Madness: Florida State vs. Oklahoma State

Bill Bender (Sporting News): Oklahoma State vs. Florida State

After two weeks of the season the expert projections are focused on two ACC teams (plus Notre Dame) and two Big 12 teams. Of the five teams listed, only Oklahoma State doesn’t have an appearance in the Russell Athletic Bowl.

No new teams were added from last week but some of the matchups have changed. Last week Mark Schlabach had Notre Dame facing Oklahoma State. Brett McMurphy also changed his matchup replacing West Virginia with Oklahoma State.

Florida State and West Virginia have three appearances each. FSU was last here in 2011 against Notre Dame where they were victorious 18-14. West Virginia was last here in 2010 when they fell 23-7 to a Russell Wilson led-NC State.

Georgia Tech’s last appearance in the Russell Athletic Bowl came in 2004 when they defeated Syracuse 51-14.
