You can get a better understanding of how the committee ranks teams with a couple of helpful breakdowns:one from BusinessInsider and another from Sports On Earth.
The Russell Athletic Bowl receives the first ACC pick after the College Football Playoff series of games and the second Big 12 pick after the CFP and the Valero Alamo Bowl. If the season ended today, the Russell Athletic Bowl could potentially host No. 22 Duke or No. 24 Georgia Tech from the ACC and No. 15 Oklahoma or No. 23 West Virginia from the Big 12.
Louisville was replaced by Georgia Tech from last week’s Russell Athletic Bowl potential matchups. If Georgia Tech played Oklahoma, this would be the first time in both team histories they go head to head. If Georgia Tech played West Virginia it would be the fourth time overall and the first since 2007.
