ACC Week Two Preview

Wake Forest (1-0) travels to Boston College (1-0) for the only ACC matchup of week two. Since 2003, the Demon Deacons and Eagles have split their 10 meetings, with Wake claiming the past two matchups. Both teams opened up with home victories over FCS opponents.

Syracuse (0-1) hits the road for a Saturday night game vs. No. 19 Northwestern (1-0), its second-straight Big Ten opponent to start the season. The Orange lost a hard-fought battle against Penn State in their opener, and take on a Northwestern squad that defeated them 42-41 in the 2012 season opener.

Miami (Fla.) (1-0) hosts No. 12 Florida (1-0) in the teams’ first meeting since a 2008 Gators victory in Gainesville. Miami rode RB Duke Johnson’s 186 rushing yards to a week one victory versus Florida Atlantic, while Florida played strong defense in a 24-6 win over Akron.

North Carolina (0-1) returns home to face Middle Tennessee State (1-0) after a Thursday night loss at South Carolina. The Tar Heels fell behind by 17 early, but allowed just 10 points to the Gamecocks over the final three quarters.

No. 2 Oregon (1-0) makes the cross-country trip to Charlottesville for an early-season test against Virginia (1-0). The Cavaliers opened their 2013 campaign with a 19-16 victory that featured a weather delay and heavy rain. Oregon meanwhile welcomed in its new head coach by accumulating 772 total yards in a blowout victory over Nicholls State.

Duke (1-0) travels to Memphis (0-0) following a 45-0 season-opening victory over North Carolina Central, its first shutout since 1989. The Blue Devils allowed only 184 yards and nine first downs in the win.

Four ACC teams host FCS opponents in week two. No. 4 Clemson (1-0) hosts South Carolina State after its dramatic season-opening victory over Georgia. Maryland (1-0) and NC State (1-0) hope to move to 2-0, facing Old Dominion (0-1) and Richmond (1-0), respectively. Finally, Virginia Tech (0-1) returns home to face Western Carolina (0-1).
