ACC Week Six Preview
Clemson (4-1,1-1 ACC) hosts Georgia Tech (2-3, 1-2) at Memorial Stadium on Saturday. Tigers QB Tajh Boyd needs just one touchdown pass to become Clemson’s all-time leader. The Old Gold and White will try to improve on their 4-1 record against Dabo Swinney.
Florida State (5-0, 2-0 ACC) looks to stretch their win streak to six games when they take on NC State in Raleigh. The Wolfpack set a school record with 674 yards of total offense last week against Miami, but the ‘Noles are allowing just 200.8 yards per game.
North Carolina (3-2, 0-1 ACC) welcomes Virginia Tech (3-2, 1-0 ACC) in a battle of inter-divisional programs. The Hokies hold an 18-10-6 lead in the series, including a 7-1 advantage since joining the ACC.
Wake Forest (3-2, 1-2 ACC) heads to Maryland (2-2, 0-0 ACC) for the Terrapins’ first conference meeting of the season. The Demon Deacons have won four out of the last six meetings between the two. The Terps’ defense ranks in the top 10 nationally this season, allowing just 261.25 yards per game.
Duke (4-1, 1-0 ACC) is off to their best start since 1994 and look to continue their success against Virginia (2-3, 0-1 ACC) in Durham this weekend. Blue Devils QB Sean Renfree is among ACC leaders in several categories, including season pass completions (121) and completion percentage (72%). The senior was 22/28 last week against Wake Forest.
Miami (4-1, 3-0 ACC) has a week off from conference competition and heads to Soldier Field in Chicago for what is likely the biggest nonconference matchup this weekend, taking on surging Notre Dame. The game will mark the fourth time in six games that the Hurricanes have played away from home this season.
Boston College (1-3, 0-2 ACC) travels to West Point for a nonconference matchup with Army.
