Cody Journell kicked a game-winning field goal in overtime to give Virginia Tech a 13-10 victory over Rutgers.
Defense dominated throughout the night as each team allowed only 196 yards of offense, and combined to force five turnovers. Rutgers carried a 10-0 lead into the fourth quarter before Journell kicked his first field goal to make it 10-3 with 12:14 remaining in the game. One minute later, an Antone Exum interception for Virginia Tech gave the Hokies great field position and they tied the game on a passing touchdown from Logan Thomas to Corey Fuller.
In overtime, Journell nailed a 22-yard field goal and the Hokies held strong on defense, forcing a 42-yard attempt by Rutgers that sailed wide to clinch the victory.
CB Antone Exum earned MVP honors for his inter
