NC State rallied from a 24-point deficit to come back and defeat Minnesota, 38-30.
Quarterback Philip Rivers claimed Most Valuable Player honors, throwing for 310 yards and a pair of touchdowns to Koren Robinson. Robinson caught seven passes for 157 yards on the day. Down 24-0 in the second quarter, Rivers hit tight end Andy Vanderveer for a two-yard TD that would spark the Wolfpack to score 25 unanswered points, taking a 25-24 lead.
The Gophers fought back with a 23-yard field goal by Dan Nystrom with less than 12 minutes left in the game, but NC State was back in the end zone less than a minute later on a Rivers to Robinson 23-yard score.
