Quarterback Kliff Kingsbury directed a high-powered Texas Tech offense to a 55-15 win over Clemson.
Kingsbury connected on 32-of-43 passes for 375 yards and three touchdowns. With his performance, the senior surpassed the 5,000-mark for passing yards in a season, making him the third quarterback in NCAA history to accomplish the feat. Kingsbury, who earned Most Valuable Player honors, tossed a pair of first-quarter touchdown passes to give the Red Raiders a 17-0 lead.
Fullback Taurean Henderson continued Texas Tech’s scoring explosion with a 10-yard TD scamper in the second quarter to put the Red Raiders up 24-0. Clemson got on the board with a blocked punt and safety, but Texas Tech scored the next 10 points in the quarter to take a 34-2 halftime lead and continued to build its lead throughout the second half on the way to victory.
